Mornings are simply a pleasure for me. I always open my eyes and see my angel’s smiling face. I stretch a bit to wake up and reach out to touch my Sweetie’s arm with my hand. I breathe in and smell fresh coffee made especially for me by my beloved. This is our daily routine. Even more than our simple, every day mornings I love the mornings on our days off even better. Those mornings are even more awesome because I know we don’t have to rush anywhere. We can enjoy every single second of the day without worrying that we will be late somewhere. It is our special time – time to slide back under the covers for a couple more minutes, time to take a long shower, time to watch some TV, to read a book… The possibilities are pretty endless on days like today.
Sometimes I have to ask myself this question: What shall I do with my Sweetie on our day off? Especially on cold winter days like today, when the weather outside the windows doesn’t inspire me to do many exciting things. The effect is quite the opposite in fact. Rather, the weather pushes you to stay in your cozy and warm home, where you don’t have to worry about getting cold. On the other hand, everyone would like to stay active; everyone likes to “do” something. Falling into a routine is the other thing. I like watching movies and TV shows but sometimes I just need to get out from our apartment.
On our day off excursion today we traveled to tropical zone. It was a perfect escape as the winter weather in Ohio had struck the day before, blanketing the ground with snow yesterday. We decided to go to the Rockefeller Park Greenhouse and I couldn’t have been more surprised. The complex is amazing, constructed on a parcel of land donated to The City of Cleveland by John D. Rockefeller in the early 1900’s. The place is rusty and whimsical. When we opened the door and got inside, the warm and humid space was filled with fresh air and the smells of a tropical garden. I felt energized. I was happy to walk around the beautiful gardens, just me and my Sweetie. It seemed that there were no other visitors there, just us two. In my head for a minute I imagined this old-fashioned greenhouse as a home of Poison Ivy, Batman’s beautiful but deadly nemesis. All the rooms were filled with exotic plants – huge orange and lemon trees smelled citrus-y and gorgeous orchids filled the space with a sweet scent. The glass roof allowed today’s bright sunshine to go through and light up the whole space. Old red brick walls and rusty gears all around the space give the Greenhouse a magical atmosphere. You could imagine returning in time to the late 19th century and the industrial revolution.

I love days like today. I feel like we got to go and experience something new together. It is adventure in my head every time we visit a new, fresh place. We always follow each other with our imaginations. We see the same things; we talk what it would be like, if… It is amazing to share a similar vision with someone so close to you. It is amazing to discover things with someone that you love. I think sharing the discovery of it all is the most powerful feeling. That’s what makes trips like today more exciting. I am always amazed by all the things we discover together, which is why I look forward to our “Adventures of Discovery” on our days off.

Poison Ivy is awesome… And so are you.
